FREEMASONRY

Lodge Wending is a regular Masonic Lodge operating under the jurisdiction of The Grand East of the Netherlands.

Lodge Wending is one of twelve lodges who are working in Amsterdam and counts around 46 members and gathers every Wednesday except for two months during the summer period (July/August) and a couple of weeks between Christmas and New Year.

Lodge Wending is a craft-lodge, also called blue and Saint-John’s lodge operating in the first, second or third degree. The first type of meeting we have is the ceremony in the Temple, where the dress code is a “tails” dress suit with a white bowtie and a black waistcoat, a tuxedo or a plain dark suit with a black tie, we dress ourselves in accordance with masonic etiquette. After the ceremony there is a festive board.

The second type of meetings is a so-called ‘comparition’ during which a Brother delivers a lecture and we compare thoughts the outcome of the lecture. There is no dress code for this type of meeting.

All gatherings start at 7.30 pm and take place in our lodge building in the centre of Amsterdam, Vondelstraat 39 1054GJ. If you are a Brother working under a Grand Order that is recognized by our Grand Lodge, you are more than welcome to visit us and join in with our meeting.

Please keep in mind all meetings are held in the Dutch language. However many of our members speak English as well as several other languages. Ceremonial meetings however, will be understood very well because of our common understanding of our rite and symbols.

Foreign Brethren preferring to visit an English-speaking Lodge and non-Dutch speakers interested in becoming a Freemason– may contact the Amsterdam Lodge no.312 (www.amsterdamlodge.nl) or the Rotterdam Lodge Concord no.134 (www.concordlodge.nl).
